Like any other machinery you own, vehicles batteries also needs tender loving care for it to last longer than usual. This is necessary because the life span of the battery would also determine the life span of your vehicle. If you have batteries that run out all the time it would affect the performance of the whole machine and would eventually wear it down. One important factor that could help preserve a battery life span is the kind of charger you use. Different batteries have also different charger specification needs. For instance a car battery has a different voltage need than that of motorcycle batteries. And if you use one for the other the battery could get destroyed from overcharging or wouldn’t function well from undercharging.
Another thing to keep in mind is that batteries would still run out of energy even if it is not used. This holds true with any type of batteries, including the RV battery, and not just motorcycle batteries. Some people have the mentality that when you store a charged battery for a long time the energy it had wouldn’t run out. Well in fact, the opposite holds true. Batteries when not in use leak the energy stored especially if it is not stored properly. So you don’t expect a stored vehicle battery to be of use in the moment of emergencies. So to be on the safe side, it is much wiser to keep a charger on hand rather than a spare battery. Batteries are like the heart of the engine; if it doesn’t work the whole machine won’t function properly or won’t function at all.
